Covenant Christian Academy is seeking a qualified secondary school professional in the discipline of Bible, teaching primarily middle school students. The candidate for this position should hold a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, with a Masters of Divinity preferred. The candidate must have deep and wide knowledge of scripture, the ability to flourish in our distinctly Christian and Classical model, and a passion for teaching middle school students. This position focuses on CCA’s Rhetoric School Bible sequence with our Logic School sequence focusing on the Old Testament in grade 7 and the Life of Jesus in grade 8. It’s possible this assignment could include one or two sections from our Rhetoric School sequence which includes: The Story of the Bible 1 and 2, Church History and a Senior bible elective. Additionally, any experience teaching other humanities subject matter to include rhetoric, English or history classes should be noted in the candidate’s cover letter.

An Upper School faculty position includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

  • Plan and teach five sections of Bible classes which would include the majority of sections with a combination of Old Testament (grade 7) and The LIfe of Jesus (grade 8). Depending on experience, this teaching assignment could include 1-2 sessions of high school coursework from the sequence outlined above.
  • Collaborate with other Humanities teachers in grades 7-12 (English, History, Bible, Rhetoric) to build Classical content into all humanities classes (roundtable discussion, classical arrangement for essay writing, convincing and winsome public speaking).
  • Attend weekly Upper School faculty meetings.
  • Perform weekly duties expected of all full time faculty and also serve as an Advisor for a small group of students
  • Attend a limited number of specified school events as representative of the CCA Upper School faculty, including “Back to School Night,” “Discover Covenant,” Admissions Events and others.
  • Be available individually for tutoring and/or coaching in the area of close reading and classically arranged writing.
  • Sponsor one school club or student organization

The candidate must be willing to sign CCA’s Statement of Faith and Core Values and must maintain the highest Christian virtue and personal decorum, serving as a role model and mentor both in and out of school, to students, parents, fellow faculty members and employees in judgment, dignity, respect, and Christian living.

The Upper School Bible Faculty position is a full-time position with benefits. Supplemental income from after-school programs and/or individual tutoring may be available.

Contract runs: late August 2024 through early June 2025; teaching is on a 10-month cycle.
Compensation: Commensurate with experience
